Initial Stages

"We learned that orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they're not real before you hold them in your arms. But, once you do, everything changes." (Platt, p. 139) God has placed on our hearts the desire to adopt once again!!! Matt wants a little brother....Sarah wants a little sister... Jim and I? Well, we are open to what (and whom!) God has is store for us. Who knows? Maybe this time, we will meet two little people to join our world. :) It seems a little crazy...even to us. Our schedules seem already full, and our pocketbooks already stretched...and yet, God is calling! Friends around us raise an eyebrow as if to say, "Isn't four enough?" I guess not. Not when 26,000 children a day are dying of starvation and preventable diseases. Not when there are more than 120,000 children in the U.S. Foster Care System who need a forever family. Not when God has blessed our family as richly as He has. The quote at the top of this page is from a book we are reading by David Platt called "Radical: Taking Back Your Faith From the American Dream." This book has ignited a transformation in our hearts from which we dare not rest. We are learning that we are not blessed to keep the blessing for ourselves. No! We are blessed so that we may be a blessing to others. We've learned that once we know their names, see their faces, and hold them in our arms that everything changes. We are ready to be changed. And, so...the next chapter in our journey begins!
